Editor,
Pothole-fixing Knight, please let readers know that axle weight
is the single largest factor in road surface deterioration. Since
Union Pacific’s locomotive and cars wheels never leave the tracks,
the pothole between them (on Highway 25) must have been caused by
heavy trucks. How heavy will they get if Congress harmonizes NAFTA
with GVW?

How much will road deterioration worsen if the cannery is forced to use TOFC/COFE via Lathrop and Stockton piggyback ramps? What part do gravel and rock and cement trucks play in potholes, whether between rail road tracks or elsewhere? Caveat Viator!
