Baptism: The story continues
A few weeks ago I wrote about the Christian practice of baptism, focusing on a type known as “proxy baptism.” This allows people who died without accepting Jesus as Savior to have another opportunity for salvation. While this practice has raised some controversy, during the course of my research I discovered that the traditional baptism practiced since the early days of church is also becoming controversial.

Googling illnesses a big mistake
Recently, I caught a mild cold. Now this would have been a normal thing, except that I am not a medical doctor and therefore could not remember if I was supposed to starve my cold or feed it. Also? I thought maybe it was allergies and not really a cold and I couldn’t even begin to know if I starved my allergies, fed them or if I should just take an allergy pill and stay away from the backyard for a few days.

As the anticipation grows, it remains to be seen who will have the final say when Gilroy native and five-time world champion Robert “The Ghost” Guerrero and WBC welterweight Silver champion Selcuk “Mini Tyson” Aydin square off Saturday for the Interim WBC welterweight championship of the world at HP Pavilion.
Smooth ride for 2012 Street Festival
The downtown Hollister Street Festival and Car Show pulled in almost as many entrants July 21 as they had for the 25th anniversary celebration last year, with droves of visitors taking on the 90-degree weather.
