Congressman Sam Farr’s office Tuesday announced a grant award for more than $3 million going toward runway repairs at the Hollister airport.
Another $3 million in federal funding could be headed Hollister’s way next year for additional airport work, Farr announced this week.
Farr on Tuesday was joined by local officials in announcing the grant award to make repairs at the Hollister Municipal Airport.
The grant is coming from the Federal Aviation Administration, though no further details were provided in the announcement.
The “project improvement” grant will be for runway repairs, according to the announcement.
Others joining Farr will include Velazquez, who confirmed the dollar amounts to the Free Lance; Airport Director Mike Chambless; and Robin Hunt from the FAA.
In August, council members weighed bids for the runway project slated to cost about $3.2 million, when they broached how the FAA grant would include a 10 percent match from the city.
