The Hollister power outage affecting about 7,500 customers Friday morning was caused by a bird that made contact with a power line, according to a spokeswoman for Pacific Gas & Electric.

The outage Friday morning in Hollister affected about 7,500 customers and lasted for around 45 minutes. It occurred shortly after 9:30 a.m., with power back on at about 10:15 a.m.

A PG&E spokeswoman reported back the number of customers affected by the outage and that it was caused when a bird made contact with a line.

Spokeswoman Nicole Liebelt explained that birds are safe on one line, but that this particular bird touched two lines and was electrocuted.

She did not immediately have the location of the incident.
