It took five games, but the Anzar girls volleyball team defeated Stevenson on Friday night in Mission Trail Athletic League action — 25-11, 25-17, 20-25, 22-25, 15-5.

The Hawks improve to 6-4 in the MTAL as a result.

Alex Flores delivered yet another all-around performance, supplying 15 assists, 23 kills, 14 digs and 1.5 blocks for Anzar, while Sydnee Masuen had 25 assists, 15 digs and six service aces.

Carly Johnson had 24 digs in the five-set match, and both Jessica Frusetta and Brittany Hogeman contributed 10 digs apiece.

Both Frusetta, Johnson and Flores, meanwhile, added four service aces each.

The Hawks will visit Carmel Tuesday night. Match time is 6 p.m.

Earlier this season, the Padres defeated Anzar in five games.
