Words have power, and the newspaper’s opinions on local matters count. That’s why we want to invite you to participate as a member of the Free Lance’s editorial board and to help shape the opinions that will influence San Benito County.

We are looking for people with diverse views to form an editorial board. The board will meet once a week to discuss the many issues facing San Benito County and help decide the local paper’s stance on those issues.

The ideal candidates will be able to think critically and impartially about the issues in order to make informed recommendations for our community. Editorial board members should enjoy a lively debate, construct a compelling case and have a way with words. We want our editorials to have impact.

If you are interested, please stop by the Free Lance Thursday June 17 at 9 a.m., introduce yourself and chat with the editor and publisher. Call ahead to reserve a spot. We’ll bring the bagels and coffee.

Contact Editor Conan Knoll at (831) 637-5566 ext. 337 or stop by our office at 350 Sixth St. to RSVP.
