A Saratoga woman was killed and a San Jose man was severely injured Saturday in a motorcycle accident on Airline Highway.
Judith Ann Marquez, 53, of Saratoga was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident about two miles north of the entrance to Pinnacles National Monument, the San Benito County Coroner’s Office said.
Real Dore, 52, of San Jose was taken by helicopter to a trauma unit at San Jose Medical Center where he was treated for broken bones and a concussion, the California Highway Patrol said.
The 10:15 a.m. accident happened when Dore was southbound on Airline Highway riding a 1991 BMW K75 with Marquez as his passenger, the CHP said.
For an unknown reason, Dore’s motorcycle, which was reportedly traveling at about 35 mph, ran off the edge of the roadway and flipped over an unknown number of times. Dore and Marquez were thrown an unknown distance from the motorcycle, the CHP said.
The exact cause of the crash is still under investigation.
There was no immediate indication that drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash, the CHP said.
