USA Sport Connection gymnasts traveled to Concord last weekend to participate in Michael Anthony’s Gymnastics annual Concord Cup gymnastics meet.
CLASS 6 Boys
Kurtis Pedrazzi (12+) placed first on vault (9.45), second on rings (9.2), third on floor (8.7), third on pommel (9.2), third on parallel bars, third on horizontal bar (9.5) and third All-Around (55.2).
Vanya Avilla (9-10), placed first on rings (9.0), first on vault (9.45), third on pommel (8.3), third on parallel bars (8.4), fourth on horizontal bar (8.15), fifth on floor (8.7) and third All-Around (52.0).
Gabriel Hatcher (7-8), placed second on vault (9.4), seventh on pommel, seventh on horizontal bar, ninth on floor, ninth on rings and 10th on parallel bars.
CLASS 7 Boys
Darren Coates (12+), placed third on parallel bars (9.4), third on pommel (8.8), fifth on vault (8.9), sixth on rings (9.1), seventh on floor (9.0) and ninth on horizontal bars.
Kyle Brown (9-10) placed first on rings with a perfect score (9.7), second on floor (9.4), fifth on parallel bars (9.3), sixth on pommel (8.4), seventh on horizontal bar and ninth on vault (8.5).
The boys, coached by Thomas Lopes, travel to Santa Cruz on March 6 to participate in the Region 1 Zone Championships. Finalists will move on to participate in the NCBGA State Meet from March 20-21 in Fremont.
Finalists from the NCBGA State Meet will then compete at the Region 1 Championships in Phoenix on April 4.
LEVEL 4 Girls (7-9)
Lise Avilla placed third on the vault (8.925), third on the balance beam (8.75), third on the floor (8.65) and eighth on the uneven bars.
Emily Rianda placed first on the vault (9.025), third on the uneven bars (8.175), fourth on the balance beam (8.55) and eighth on the floor.
Jacquelynn Fisher placed 10th on the vault (8.35) and 10th on the floor.
LEVEL 4 Girls (12+)
Alysia Brown placed fourth on the uneven bars, fifth on the vault (8.625), fifth on the floor (8.075) and 10th on the balance beam.
The girls, coached by Colleen Fisher, will finish up their winter competitive season March 6 at Twister’s Caribbean Carnivale in Mountain View.
