Lincoln Glen answered with four runs in the top of the fourth with the help of back-to-back home runs – a three-run shot by Joe Sullivan and a solo shot by Ryan Albin.
Hollister tied the score in the bottom of the inning after a Lincoln Glen error.
9-10’s
The Hollister American 9-10 All-Star team was ten-runned in its first Section 5 tournament game in Santa Cruz on Sunday.
Santa Cruz Westside scored 10 runs in the first inning and went on to win 12-1. With the loss, Hollister drops into the loser’s bracket and will play the winner of the Eastside/Saratoga game tonight at 5:30 p.m.
Westside had 10 of its 12 hits in the first inning and sent 14 batters to the plate.
“That kind of took the wind out of our sail if there was any wind there at all,” said manager Scott Salvas.
Hollister scored its lone run of the game in the second inning with two outs.
Dustin Rovella walked, Ryan Bernal had a base hit and Tyler Quimby was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Skyler Shaw-Fuss drew a walk to force in a run. Hollister had a chance for more. Adrian Medina crushed a line drive shot up the middle, but the pitcher snagged it for the final out.
Hollister put together a small threat in the third but then went down 1-2-3 in the fourth.
