Beth “Jane” Mitchell, 86, passed away on January 23, 2012. She was born on July 12, 1925, to Roger and Loretta Carlson in Ong, NE. She had one sister, Yuvonne. The family first moved to Texas, then to Bakersfield, when Jane was in high school. She worked at Dewar’s after school.

    In 1942, she met Don Mitchell while he was stationed in Shafter. After a long distance courtship, they were married in 1945. They lived in Gilroy, CA, raising their two daughters. She was a help mate to Don in his business, Baxter’s Tire Service, until 1979, when they sold the business.

    The family would like to extend a special thank you to her caregiver Sheila Gray, Optimal Hospice, nurses Lorin and Amy, along with the loving care of Rosita Yatco (the dancing lady), Violy Acosta, and Jasmin Yatco from Arcadia Home Care.

   She was preceded in death by her sister, Yuvonne, and husband, Don, and is survived by Peggy and Ronny Lopez of Washington and Roberta and Don Sanford of Bakersfield. She was known as Nonnie to many children, especially her four grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
