Rotary hopes to return antique fair to national status
Thank you for the wide range of county-defining news published in your January 20, 2012 issue.
You have reported challenges currently facing our community, and I hope through this letter to acknowledge those who are striving to be part of the solution. Specifically, I am referring to the San Juan Bautista Rotary Club International.
In 2010, an emergency call was placed to our Rotary, asking if they could be the sponsoring nonprofit for that year’s San Juan Bautista Antique Fair. They agreed, and subsequently have taken on producing the event, keeping it alive and ready for its 50th Anniversary in 2013.
As outlined in your Section A “News In Brief,” the Rotary has specific plans for event proceeds, and intentions to grow the show in size. Through these efforts, the August 12, 2012 Antique Fair shows promise of returning to its once nationally-promoted status as a destination event.
Many thanks to all the volunteers, Rotary and otherwise, whose every efforts over these years have contributed to the success of our fabulous Flea (Antique Fair.) I hope your readership will heartily support the efforts of this worthy organization, and help keep California’s oldest, outdoor antique market going strong.
