Celebrations abound in South County
So much for summer! Just when we thought the weather was going
to warm up, good old Mother Nature hits us with another round of
rain. Seems like every column I write now days I always write the
same thing
– I’m ready for some warm, summer weather!
Congratulations to the San Benito High Class of 2011. Graduation
ceremonies for the Balers was held last Friday. Some South County
residents graduating included Grace Tobias who will be headed off
to school in Davis in the fall while Nicole Rianda will be
attending a junior college in the Santa Clara area where she will
be playing basketball. Blane Strohn will be heading down to Cuesta
College in San Luis Obispo. Congratulations to everyone!

We will be celebrating King City High’s 100th Year Graduation ceremonies on June 17. South County residents graduating will be Katie Donham and Sierra Sans. Seems like yesterday when the girls were in kindergarten at Bitterwater School!
Lots of celebrations took place last weekend in South County. Birthday wishes go out to Tim Hearne who celebrated with a big birthday bash on Saturday evening in San Lucas (his actual birthday June 6). Birthday wishes also go out to Tim’s granddaughter Hollyn who celebrated her 3rd birthday on the June 4. Since Grandpa Tim had his big party on Hollyn’s actual birthday, she got to have her birthday party on June 5. It was like musical birthdays in the Hearne Family last weekend.
Congratulations to newlyweds Casey and Krista Sabin who were married on June 4 at their home in Paso Robles. Many family and friends were on hand to celebrate with them. It was a rainy day but that didn’t dampen the spirits or the celebration as everyone had a great time.
The Monterey County Sheriff’s Posse hosted its annual Jr Rodeo last Saturday at the Posse Grounds in Salinas. Congratulations to Mikael Bernadette Enz for winning the Girls All-around Saddle. Tucker and Garret Bourdet had a good day as well as the Stelling girls. Brody won the 14-18 Steer Riding while Dawson Bell won the Boys Steer Stopping and Lila Bell won the Girls Steer Stopping. Other South County participants included Cash Robinson, Dustin Borba, Taylor and Tatum Hurley and Cortnee Bowers, just to name a few.
