The first quake, a 4.6-magnitude quake, occurred at 12:18 a.m. Saturday four miles northwest of the monument in San Benito County at a depth of 4.7 miles, according to the USGS. The quake was 22 miles southeast of Hollister and 65 miles south of San Jose.
The second quake, a 3.8 magnitude earthquake, occurred three minutes after at 12:21 a.m. The earthquake was six miles northwest of the monument at a depth of 3.2 miles, according to the USGS.
