Mini Max Storage hosted the first Hollister’s Got Talent 2011 on
Aug. 20. There were 18 acts, and four performers took home a win.
There were dancers, singers, artists and musicians. It was a tough

amazing show, according to Michelle Rodarte, who helped organize
the event.

The first prize-winner was Camaxtli Torres, 11, a student from JJ’s Hip Hop Studio in Hollister. The second-prize winner was Emily Christensen, 11, who sang “Hallelujah.” Luke Bettencourt, 8, took third place and is a JJ’s Hip Hop student. Destiny Guillen-Perez, 7, took fourth place for her song and dance “Como La Flor.”
Some of the sponsors who helped with the event and prizes included A to Z staging, A to Z photography, Mountain Mikes, Premiere Cinemas and M.T.E Productions. The master of ceremonies was Sammy Ramirez and the judges included Blanca Espinoza, Phillip Alaniz and Danie Espinoza. Hollister Vice Mayor Ray Friend came out to give certificates of appreciation to some of the community advocates. The contestants involved in making the show a success included: Camaxtli Torres, Emily Christensen, Luke Bettencourt, Destiny Guillen-Perez, Zyllah Campos, Isaac Cabral, Christina Echevarria, Veronica Wong, The Triple Crew, Sierra Johnson, Meghan Bettencourt, Cody Cordova, Marissa Bautista, Kaleb Askew, Jeremy Hail, Jenna Schmidt, Emily Flosi, April Curnutt, Cherylyn Thomas and Shelby Trotter.
Rodarte said she feels very lucky to have met such talented children in the City of Hollister. She is so glad to have coordinated the event and can’t wait to do it again next year, she said.
