San Benito girls soccer

The San Benito girls soccer team fell 2-1 to Santa Teresa on Wednesday.

The loss moves the Balers non-league record to 1-4-2.
In the loss, San Benito allowed two first-half goals to Santa Teresa.

The Balers scored one goal in the second half, but were unable to complete the comeback.

San Benito hosts St. Francis C.C. Catholic at 3:30 p.m. Friday.

Anzar opened the week with a 2-1 win over Pajaro Valley to give the Hawks their fifth win in eight games.

The win was the Hawks second win in a row after beating Gonzales in penalty kicks Friday.

The Hawks allowed the first goal of the game in the 23rd minute. But the Hawks quickly responded with a goal from Ana Madrigal a minute later.

In the second half, Brianna Miltmore gave the Hawks the lead with a goal in the 57th minute.

Anzar travels to San Lorenzo Valley on Thursday. The game starts at 3:30 p.m.

The Hawks continued their early season struggles Tuesday by losing 54-22 to Greenfield. The Hawks are now 0-8 on the season.
Despite the loss, Anzar held a first-quarter lead by scoring 11 points.

But in the second quarter, the Hawks defense began to struggle.

Anzar allowed 26 second-quarter points – and scored only two points – to allow Greenfield to run away with the contest.

Anzar’s Leslie Martinez led the Hawks in scoring with 10 points. Delaney McKinney added 9 points and Jacqueline Quaresma scored 3 points in the loss.

The Hawks host Kirby at 5:30 Thursday.
