The Gavilan College men’s soccer team fell to visiting Monterey Peninsula College 3-1 on Tuesday in non-conference action in Gilroy. It was the second straight loss for the Rams.

Coupled with last Friday’s 2-1 defeat against Ohlone College, Gavilan is now 2-3-1 overall. The Rams will play Monterey Peninsula College again on Friday in Monterey, although this time the game will be the Coast Conference opener for both teams.

On Tuesday, the visiting Lobos jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the game when Gavilan was finally able to get on the scoreboard.

Freshman Ramiro Lechuga scored the lone goal for the Rams late in the second half.

“It was too little, too late,” Gavilan head coach Albert Marques said. “We came out flat and we couldn’t pass — just a lot of problems in the midfield.”

The Rams will try their hand against MPC again on Friday. Kickoff is 1:30 p.m.
