A heavy, dense morning fog Tuesday caused three accidents on
Highway 25 within 30 minutes, slowing down northbound traffic.
Despite the three separate accidents, with eight total vehicles
involved, one person was sent to the hospital complaining of minor
injuries.
The chain of accidents started just after 8 a.m. when a big rig
driven by a Gilroy man, 24, on Highway 25 was trying to make a left
turn onto Shore Road. The large truck was crossing through
northbound Highway 25 when a 2001 Toyota Tacoma driven by a
Hollister man, 28, collided with the larger vehicle.

The chain of accidents started just after 8 a.m. when a big rig driven by a Gilroy man, 24, on Highway 25 was trying to make a left turn onto Shore Road. The large truck was crossing through northbound Highway 25 when a 2001 Toyota Tacoma driven by a Hollister man, 28, collided with the larger vehicle.
The Tacoma hit the big rig in between the trailer and the front part of the truck, according to a press release from the California Highway Patrol.
Soon after, a 1999 Ford Mustang driven by a Hollister man, 21, collided with the backend of Tacoma, pinning the Tacoma’s driver inside his vehicle.
Calfire eventually freed the driver from the Tacoma after nearly 20 minutes. The driver complained of pains to his right leg, hip and shoulder. He also had a small laceration on the right side of his head. To treat his injuries, the driver was sent to Saint Louis Regional Hospital in Gilroy.
Just under 10 minutes later on southbound Highway 25, a motorcycle rear-ended a 2004 Chevrolet Cavalier. The accident was only 0.2 miles north of Shore Road, CHP Public Information Officer Jaime Rios said. All of the drivers were from Hollister.
The motorcycle driver companied of pain in his foot, but nobody was sent to the hospital.
At 8:33 a.m. on northbound Highway 25, the fog caused a three-vehicle accident. The vehicles all rear-ended each other.
None of the three vehicles’ drivers complained of injuries, Rios said. The accident took place 0.1 miles from the first incident.
Despite the three accidents, traffic was never stopped but was slowed down, Rios said. He did not know for how long traffic was backed up.
