Circle of Reflection
The Hollister Japanese Temple Garden will be hosting a Circle of Reflection Tea Ceremony March 28, at 1 p.m. at 920 Riverside Road in Hollister. Minako Tsuji, a professor, will demonstrate the tea ceremony under the cherry blossoms, followed by a meditation ceremony led by Don Belt. Tsuji is a graduate of Kyoto Women University and when she was in Kyoto she learned the tea ceremony of Urasenke. She received a tea teaching diploma Junkyo in 1997, Chamei in 1981 and Kyoju in 2008. She started teaching tea ceremony at Hakone Garden in 1985, and teaches it every Friday and Saturday. For more information, call 637-6361.
Aromas School casino night and auction
The Aromas Home and School Club will be hosting a fundraiser March 28 at 6 p.m. at San Juan Oaks Golf Club in Hollister. Tickets are $50 each and include food, wine tasting, casino cash, a silent auction and dancing. The silent auction includes donations from community businesses as well as baskets created by the Aromas School classes. The fundraiser will support Aromas School students, staff and teachers. Wildflower day
The public is invited to Pacheco State Park on March 28 for the sixth annual wildflower day from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. People from the state parks, Fish and Game, the Native Plant Society and other organizations will be on hand to answer questions. A birding walk starts at 9:30 a.m., with a wildflower hike at 10 a.m. and a history walk at noon. There is a $5 per car fee for day use in the park. Daisy’s fundraiser
The owners and staff of Daisy’s Saloon, 213 Third St., are hosting a tri-tip barbecue March 29 from noon to 5 p.m. to raise money for local Teresa Monat, who has been diagnosed with breast cancer. The Watsonville Community Band will have its final performance of its spring concert series at the Santa Cruz Civic Auditorium March 29 at 2 p.m. under the baton of conductor Eugene Smith. Rotary scholarship fundraiser
The Hollister rotary is hosting a community take-out BBQ as a fundraiser for their scholarship programs April 4. The barbecue includes a whole seasoned tri-tip and loaf of garlic bread for $25. Pickup will be available from 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the 400 block of San Benito Street, near the Briggs Building. Tickets are available through pre sale only from any Rotary member, and need to be purchased by March 31. Those interested can also call Ruth Humber at 637-5311 or Mari Davis at 637-1100.
Artists’ reception
The Hollister Downtown Association and the San Benito county Arts Council will host “Art Exposed in Downtown Hollister.” An artists’ reception will be held at the Blak Sage Gallery, 727 San Benito St., April 4 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. The event will offer a preview of the Open Studios Tour on April 25 and 26. Quilts will be on display and the chairs decorated for the Hollister Downtown Association will also be available for viewing. A silent auction will be held for the chairs.

Cioppino feed benefit
Stop by the Casa Maria Parish Hall, 600 First St., in San Juan Bautista April 4, from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. for a Cioppino feed. Tickets are $35 and will benefit the Community Pantry. The event is hosted by the Pantry and Mission San Juan Bautista.

Rock pile rendezvous
Pinnacles National Monument staff are hosting the second annual rock pile rendezvous April 4, on the East side of the park at 10 a.m. Guests can follow the routes of legends and meet with climbing organizations. They can enjoy programs on the climbing gear of yesteryear, low-impact climbing techniques, youth climbing, raptor monitoring and technical search and rescue. Ascencion Cantata at Gavilan College
Gavilan College will be hosting a multi-media work on Ascension Solorsano de Cervantes on April 4, at 7 p.m. in the college theater, 5055 Santa Teresa Blvd. Cervantes lived from 1854 to 1930, and is the last of the Amah Mutsun tribeal band to retain linguistic and cultural fluency. The two-hour presntation includes pre-recorded sound effects and music, projected images and live performances. Annual Crab Feed
The Hollister Exchange Club’s 22nd annual Crab Feed will be held at the Bolado Park Pavilion on April 18. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and dinner will begin at 7 p.m. Dancing, with music provided by “The Dadz,” starts at 9. A wine auction will precede dinner and a silent auction will be held at the informal event, which includes all the crab you can eat along with salad, pasta and garlic bread. Proceeds from the $35 tickets will benefit the Exchange Club’s local youth programs. Healthy kids day
The YMCA of San Benito County is hosting Healthy Kids Day April 25, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the YMCA office, 339 Fifth St. The free event will include vendor booths, games and activities. Families can try out a free fitness class. Some options include yoga, tai chi, pilates, karate, stability ball and piyo. The Mobile Shark Tank and S.J. Sharkie, the mascot for the San Jose Sharks, will be visiting Hollister during the event. The team donated equipment to start an NHL street hockey league through the local YMCA. Open Studios Tour
The San Benito Open Studios tour is April 25 and 16 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The event is a self-guided tour of artists’ studios in Hollister, Aromas an dSan Juan Bautista. The artists work in mediums such as clay, paint, jewelry making and weaving, among others. The tour is a chance to interact with the artists and see their work in the place where they create it. The San Benito Stage Company presents Aladdin Jr starting May 1 through May 10, at the Granada Theater.
