Gavilan softball team qualifies to postseason for just the 2nd
time in 25 years
Despite a difficult loss in the regular-season finale, the
Gavilan Rams softball team will advance to the regional playoffs
for the second straight year and just the second time in the last
25 years after posting a 10-5 record in the Coast Conference
South.
With their second-place standing in the conference, the Rams
will now await their playoff seed, which is scheduled to be
announced today and will most likely have the team traveling in the
first round.

Despite a difficult loss in the regular-season finale, the Gavilan Rams softball team will advance to the regional playoffs for the second straight year and just the second time in the last 25 years after posting a 10-5 record in the Coast Conference South.

San Jose City College won the South outright after compiling a 14-1 record.
Gavilan was unable to complete the regular season with a win, however, as the Rams gave up three runs in the top of the seventh inning Tuesday to visiting Monterey Peninsula College, which went on to steal a 5-3 victory in Gilroy.
“They were unhappy that we lost,” Gavilan manager Nikki Dequin said. “They were upset and were unhappy to lose to a team they had beat before.
“But at least we are going to the playoffs. We have a few more games (to play).”
