Foreclosed homes in San Benito County have been a big problem when it comes to controlling the potential spread of diseases carried by some species of mosquitos.

There were 215 properties in some stage of foreclosure, a decrease of 3.6 percent from the prior month, with 101 notices of default, also a slight decrease.

The numbers also show the foreclosure situation here has not improved since last year at this time. In June 2008, there were 195 homes in foreclosure and 96 notices of default that month, according to RealtyTrac.

Overall in California, there were more than 101,000 properties in foreclosure last month.
