Two Hollister Vikings Pop Warner cheer squads competed for the national championship last week at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Fla.

The Hollister pee wees finished fifth in the nation, and their performance score of 61.6 was only about 1.5 points below what it would have taken to win the national championship. The top five teams were very close in their scores.

The junior pee wee Vikings also competed, but did not place.

Last month, the junior pee wee team won the crown at the Pacific Northwest Regional cheer competition in Santa Clara, while the pee wees were runner-ups but qualified for the national competition, nonetheless.

Only the top 10 to 16 teams in the nation from each Pop Warner competitive division earned the right to compete for the national championship.

It was the sixth year in a row the Vikings had sent at least two cheer squads to the national championships. Last year, they sent all three of their competitive squads.
