Walnut Creek resident Ralph D. Filice D.D.S., age 65 passed away Sunday August 6th 2008 after an incredibly courageous 5th battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Nancy, daughter Nicole and her husband Ed, sons David and Daniel, brothers George and Ernie, sister Mary Jane, and beloved dog “Audrey”. Ralph was an incredibly loving and devoted family man whose greatest pleasure was spending time with those he loved. Ralph was raised in Gilroy, CA and graduated from Saint Mary’s College in Moraga, CA. He then went on to Creight on Dental School in Nebraska. While at Creighton he was selected for the prestigious “Who’s Who in American Universities”. In 1968 upon graduating from Creighton Ralph spent 2 years in the army at Fort Knox, Kentucky in the dental corps with an emphasis in oral surgery. It is there where he met his beloved wife Nancy. In 1969 he married Nancy, moved to Moraga, California and in 1970 opened his own private dental practice. Over the course of a 28 year career Ralph, in partnership with his wife, developed one of the most successful dental practices in the country. He was a member of Rotary International in Moraga where he was a past president. Ralph was known and respected by his patients and colleagues for his care and the artistry he brought to the dental profession. Upon retiring from dentistry in 1999 he and Nancy moved to Walnut Creek where he went on to pursue a variety of artistic endeavors including acting for film and TV, theater, voice over work, stand-up comedy, and writing. During the course of his acting career he appeared in over 10 movies and 20 theater productions, as well as appearing in documentaries that aired on A&E and The History Channel. In his spare time Ralph loved family trips to Maui, where he enjoyed scuba diving, snorkeling, and swimming. He was also an extremely talented and very accomplished classical pianist. A Memorial Service celebrating Ralph’s life will be held at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church, 1101 Keaveny Drive in Walnut Creek on Thursday August 14, 2008 at 1:00 P.M.
