Tom Lawry, well known owner of Lawry Retrievers and Buena Vista Kennels in Hollister passed away at his residence on Aug. 23rd at the age of 55 years. Tom was a native of San Mateo, a 1970 graduate of Los Altos High School, a junior college graduate; and a Vietnam Veteran, having served with the U.S. Army. Upon his army discharge in 1974 Tom moved to San Benito County, bought his property on Buena Vista Road and started Lawry Retrievers. Besides the Bay Area and Southern California, Tom had clients throughout the western states where he often competed in trials with his own retrievers. He enjoyed the out-of-doors fishing and hunting. He is survived by his parents Jack and Nancy Lawry of Aromas;his daughter Marcie Lawry and her fiance Sterling Dorsett of Hollister, and his brother David Lawry of Lamarque, Texas.

Friends are invited to a memorial celebration of Tom’s life on Saturday August 30th at 11:00 A.M. at 2971 Buena Vista Road, Hollister. Private cremation is being held and inurnment with military honors will be held at San Joaquin National Cemetery.
