The number of stolen McCain-Palin signs passed the 50 mark over
the weekend in Hollister and areas of San Benito County. Even gated
residential areas have not been immune.
The vandalism is so pervasive as to appear organized. Some
McCain-Palin supporters have resorted to bring their signs indoors
overnight after being victimized more than once.
We strongly urge McCain-Palin supporters to continue to refrain
from any retaliation. Such behavior is not acceptable in a free and
democratic society. .

Keep on talking, liberals
Another letter from the far left. I’m referring to the guest view from Natasha Wist on Sept. 5, where she writes about the demonstration in Denver and the RNC. She states that there were police “raids” on peaceful groups and nothing more than household items were found.
Well, she fails to give all the information, which is typical. On at least one of these “raids” the authorities found Molotov cocktails (combustible material put in glass bottles with a fuse), plastic bags full of human feces, plastic bags full of human urine and material to make more of the cocktail bombs.
Maybe Ms. Wist calls these things household items. She mentions people there making speeches, one of which being by Ward Churchill. Ward Churchill is one of the biggest anti-American, anti-government people in America. He made a statement not too long ago that the victims of 9-11 deserved what they got. This is one of the people that these liberal loons look up to.
Mrs. Wist sounds more concerned about the 800 people detained and the terrorists being held at Guantanamo Bay than the 3,000 victims of 9-11. So keep up the good work Ms. Wist and continue writing your letters, because the more you bloviate, the more people will see who you are.

Cut taxes where it counts
The national debt has moved past $ 9.79 trillion with a $2.17 billion increase every day. The Obama change is to shift tax cut benefits to middle class families, those making $250,000 per year or less. Eliminate the Bush tax cuts for everyone else and put them on the tax rate of the year 2000, the year we had a $300 billion budget surplus. When deficits are done away with, Congress and the President will develop a new tax program that meets the needs of middle class families and moves our nation forward. This change is in the best interests of all Americans.

Return Perry to water board
I am writing to support the candidacy of Ken Perry to the San Benito County Water District Board (SBCWD) this November. Ken has been longtime advocate for responsible water use in our county. In addition to protecting the natural resources of our county, he understands the importance of working with the local business community to develop responsible water usage policies that benefit the general public and the local economy.
In the past year, I have worked closely with Ken and the SBCWD to develop a comprehensive, regional water reuse plan that will save water, improve the quality of water flowing into our streams and rivers, and enable the growth of agricultural businesses in our county. In addition, this plan will return approximately 70 acres of land back to productive, agricultural use.
Some of the action items Ken has been responsible for include:
· Developing a water handling program to help us gain approval from the Regional Water Quality Control Board (RWQCB) for a reuse water program at our facility in San Juan Bautista;
· As a member of the Water Reuse Committee, he has been a driver to create a regional water reuse plan supported by the RWQCB – this will benefit the county as ground water levels are very high and need to be dealt with;
· Supported our efforts to develop a discharge plan that allows us to put our treated water into percolation ponds for reuse and potential irrigation for crop production;
· Supported our desire to develop a sustainable business model and expand our facility in San Juan Bautista, which employs more than 800 local residents;
· By utilizing and managing our own water supplies, Ken has helped to make San Benito County less dependent on imported water, which costs money and increases the levels of salt in our basin.
Ken is a forward-looking member of the SBCWD Board of Directors. He understands that water is a precious commodity we need to protect and manage. His approachable style and willingness to work with local businesses is an asset not only to the SBCWD, but the entire community. Please remember to vote on Nov. 4.
