Roy Sims went 3-2 in the Sumo World Championships.

Despite entering the Sumo World Championships in Tokyo with a crushed ring finger, Roy Sims finished 3-2, with all of his victories coming in the team portion of the event. Sims lost his only individual match before going 3-1 in team competition, helping the U.S. to a top-eight finish.
Days before the tournament started, Sims crushed one of his ring fingers during a squat workout. While a finger injury might seem benign, it affects grip strength, which plays a vital role as the wrestlers grapple and try to force each other out of the circle.
