A family and friends celebration of Mimi’s life will follow at the family home.
Mimi V. Eilrich, age 84, went on to that most glorious place, Heaven, on Friday August 7, 2015, surrounded by family members in Soulsbyville CA.
She was born October 25, 1930 in Elmhurst Ill, the 3rd child of Donald and Katherine Pieri.
In high school, at age 17, Mimi cut her first album singing opera along with friend, Henry her pianist, entitled “Mimi Sings for You”.
She graduated high school in 1948 and went on to college, where she met and fell in love with William (Bill) L. Eilrich. They wed on May 24, 1952 and went on to have 10 children. They loved each other through their almost 50-years of marriage.
Mimi loved to sing and was passionate about her family and her church, St. Lawrence in Santa Clara, where she sang and raised her family. She sang whenever given the opportunity and made lifelong friends in this community. Mimi not only loved opera but sang every genre of music with her children and grandchildren throughout the various stages of their lives.
She loved as she lived, giving freely to all she came in contact with. Her great and silly sense of humor still keeps us laughing.
At 50 years of age, Mimi re-entered college, studied diligently and, with her husband Bill coaching, become a Registered Nurse. She was the top of her class, graduating at Columbia College and then went on to work at the (old) Kaiser in Santa Clara where she worked in the Cancer Unit and Pediatrics.
Not knowing the weaving in her life when the love of her life, Bill, was diagnosed with cancer and she knew everyone in the unit.
Mimi is preceded in death by: her husband, Bill; son, Wade (Carla) Eilrich; son, Karl Eilrich; great-granddaughterg Riley Porter, and grandson, Mason McBride.
She is survived by: daughter, Gale (Robert) Straight, daughter, Ann (Richard) Ramos, and son, Mark (Margaret) Eilrich, daughter, Joan (Dennis) Berry, and son, Kurt Eilrich, daughter, Mary (Wally) Verplanck, son, Paul Eilrich, son, John (Melissa) Eilrich, 18 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
