Augustine S. Godoy died in Hollister on March 19, 2007, at the age of 83. He was born in Zacatecas, Mexico, and lived in Hollister for over 50 years. He and his wife, Jennie, were married in 1953 in Hollister. He worked for San Benito Foods and was a member of the Teamsters Union, Sacred Heart Church, AARP, and The Guadalupana Society. His favorite pastime was working in his garden.
He is survived by his wife, Jennie Godoy of Hollister and his children and their spouses, Teresa and Steven Arii of Salinas, Louis and Michelle Godoy of Campbell, Isabell and Mike Egbert of Hollister, Julie Godoy of Watsonville, Angela Godoy of Hollister, Alice Matthews of Watsonville and Joseph and Veronica Godoy of Salinas.
He is also survived by 16 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
Friends can pay their respects on Friday, March 23, 2007 from 12:00 noon until 9:00 P.M. at Black Cooper Sander Funeral Home in Hollister. The Rosary will be Friday evening at 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home. The Mass will be on Saturday, March 24, 2007 at 1:00 P.M. at Sacred Heart Church. Friends can gather at the funeral home at 12:30 P.M. for a procession to the church. Interment will follow the Mass at Calvary Cemetery.
Donations are preferred to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital c/o the funeral home.
