Editor,

I read Dawn Wilson’s article last week and felt very offended. She insulted the Mexican American community and I honestly felt ashamed to even live in the same universe as some one like her.

One thing that I would like her to understand is that migration is a human right. Is it wrong for a man to come to this country so that his family can have a better life? The pilgrims did that and now it’s wrong for Mexican to do the same? After all it is the “American Dream.” Does that sound just? I don’t think so. And how she states that they are a drain to the economy; that is completely false. The people that come here don’t thrive off the free programs in this country, they can’t, because they are “illegal.” Their children that are born here, however, do have the right as citizens to get any help from the government. The system is obviously abused, but don’t use “illegal” immigrants as a scapegoat for the poverty problem.
