Velma P. Tiffany May 5, 1926 – December 1, 2015

 Velma P. Tiffany died peacefully at her home in Ridgemark (Hollister), on December 1, 2015, at the age of 89. 
 Born in 1926, Velma was the daughter of Bess and Harvey Prosser. Due to her father being a Colonel in the then newly-formed Army Air Corps, Velma lived in the Philippines and literally travelled around the world before the age of 12. 
 Velma attended high school in San Antonio, TX, spent two years at Stephens College in Columbia, MO, and then went on to Stanford University, where she was the first woman graduate in the field of organic chemistry. 
 In 1948, Velma married her college sweetheart, Charlie, after he returned from WWII. The couple initially made their home on the San Francisco Peninsula, where Velma worked in the Pharmacology Department of the Stanford Lane Hospital doing cancer research. 
 In 1955, the couple moved to Hollister, now with the addition of three small children, where Velma lived as a vibrant member of the community for the rest of her life. 
 Velma raised a loving family, made wonderfull friends, and was an active member of numerous volunteer organizations. 
 She and her husband continued the operation of the family business, Tiffany Motor Company, the oldest Ford dealership in California. 
 Velma loved gardening, golfing, painting, and hiking and fishing in the Sierras while vacationing at the family’s cabin at Huntington Lake. 
 Velma was a lifelong learner, an avid reader, and was one of the original members of the local Great Books Society. 
 Velma and Charlie also loved to travel the world, carrying on a passion Velma first nurtured as an army brat. 
 Velma was very civic-minded and a great supporter of the community she loved. She was named the donor of the year by the Hazel Hawkins Hospital Foundation in 2012, Woman of the Year by the San Benito Chamber of Commerce in 2010, Kinship Center’s Philanthropist of the Year in 2003, and the Community Foundation for San Benito County’s Philanthropist of the Year in 2004.
 Velma was preceded in death by her husband of over 50 years, Charlie. She is survived by her three children and their respective spouses, Bill Tiffany and his wife, Sally, Susan Tiffany-Brown and her husband, Michael, Bob Tiffany and his wife, Kathy, eight grandchildren, Jon (Kelly), Chris (Kim), Sara (Bonnie), Todd (Kelsey), Ross, Lesley (Matthew), Zak, and Nick, one great-grandchild Vada, her brother Harvey, nieces and nephews, her devoted caregivers, and her loyal dog, Darby.
