Ridgemark – District 4 Supervisorial candidates Reb Monaco and Tracie Cone will be squaring off Thursday night at a forum designed to let them air their views on hot topics and prove their mettle to voters.

“I always look forward to meeting constituents,” Monaco said. “I think this will be a good opportunity for voters to hear both sides.”

The forum is sponsored by and will be held at Ridgemark Golf and Country Club.

“Realistically, whoever the candidates are for District 4, they will need to carry Ridgemark Estates to be successful,” said Eric Dietz, chief operating officer for Ridgemark. “So we thought this would be a great chance for folks in District 4 to get informed and make informed decisions in the election.”

The event will be at 6pm Thursday and is open to the public, not just Ridgemark residents or club members. Candidates have been asked to prepare opening statements as well as answers to seven questions about the future of San Benito County, and attendees will have an opportunity to ask questions as well. The event will be moderated by Judge Steve Sanders.

“The great thing about an event like this is that it’s in District 4 and it’s just the District 4 candidates,” Cone said. “There are a lot of very informed voters in Ridgemark, so I expect we’ll be hearing a lot of good questions from the audience.”

Questions posed to the candidates cover everything from future growth control measures to the role of tourism in San Benito County’s future.

Three candidates battled for the District 4 Supervisorial seat in the June election – incumbent Monaco, former Pinnacle Newspaper Publisher Cone and outgoing County Clerk/Auditor/Recorder/Registrar John Hodges. The margins were so close that while Hodges was disqualified, Monaco and Cone returned to the campaign trail for a run-off election in November.

This will be the first such debate Monaco and Cone have participated in since the last election.
