Marguerite Ann “Peggy” Hart passed away at her home from a short illness on Saturday, November 4th, at the age of 82 years.
A native of Jordan, Montana, Peggy lived in Hollister since 1964. Peggy was a former bus driver for the physically challenged as well as a Teachers Aid in the Adult Education Program. In addition to being a member of the United Methodist Church Of Hollister and the United Methodist Women, Peggy belonged to the Red Hat Society; the Grandmothers Club; Hollister Women’s Club; the Pinnacle Quilters and the Gavilan Quilt Guild; the Seismic Shufflers Square Dance Club; the Square Sam’ers Square Dance Club; and was a regular on the Pedro Card circuit.
She and her late husband Willard J. Hart, who died in March 2004, traveled in their travel trailer across Canada, Alaska, and throughout 48 of the 50 States. They enjoyed cruises together. Her last cruise was with her son Bill to Hawaii this past year.
Surviving Marguerite are her children and spouses; George E. Jewell of Parkfield; William R. Jewell of Santa Maria; Betty A. and Randy Fink of Cottonwood; and Don and Carol Hart of Hollister. Her grandchildren; Melanie Bussard, Andrew Fink; Bonnie, David, Gary and Robert Jewell; George Grovener, Christy Sage, and Margaret Avila, 22 great-grandchildren and three great- great-grand children, her sister Bernice Avery of Santa Clara County; several nieces and nephews and many friends in the Hollister area connected with her church and her clubs affiliations.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 1:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the chapel of the Grunnagle Ament Nelson Funeral Home, 870 San Benito St., Hollister. Family and friends will leave the mortuary chapel on Thursday morning at 10:30 am for the funeral service at the United Methodist Church Of Hollister, 5th & Monterey Streets, beginning at 11:00 am. Private cremation will be held with inurnment at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Donations are preferred to the Cancer Society, c/o the mortuary chapel.
