Every Monday, the Free Lance runs a column by Molly Ivins. Why?
Of all the columnists available on the Internet, Ivins writes the
most boring, error-filled, negative, useless, space wasting,
liberal propaganda pap she can come up with. Her sole mission in
life is to trash our president. She has been on this crusade since
George Bush became governor of Texas by winning over her hero, Ann
Richards.

A few thoughts on the election! When Pete Wilson turned over the office of governor to Gray Davis, he warned them not to sign everything sent to him or he would bankrupt the state. It turned out to be true.
Now the same Legislature wants the voters to pass Proposition 56. They claim it will force them to pass state budgets on time or face loss of salary and expenses for each day the session drags on. It is a Trojan horse. The real reason for Prop. 56 is that it will weaken Proposition 13. It would allow the spend-thrift, lobbyist driven state Legislature to lower the votes needed to pass a state budget from Prop. 13’s requirement of a two-thirds vote of each house to 55-percent vote. This would be like allowing the foxes to guard the chicken house. Vote no on 56.
The last thing this county needs is more politicians and outsiders dictating new rules instructing property owners on what they can or can’t do with their own property. Throw the rascals out. Vote no on G. God bless America.
