Around the Water Cooler

Panelists answered the following: Are you confident in the accuracy of the explanation given by Malaysian authorities about the demise of the missing flight in the Indian Ocean?
Ruth Erickson: “The explanation seems plausible, but until there’s definitive proof, no one can be 100% sure about flight 370 going down in the Southern Indian Ocean based on new analysis!”
Bill Mifsud: “No. There have been so many missed steps by the Malaysian authorities, this was the easy way out. They did not seek out international help immediately and they in turn fumbled the investigation. They still have little answers and more questions they have not been answered.”
Marty Richman: “Yes, I believe that a crash in a remote part of the Indian Ocean is the most likely ending of the flight, but until some forensic evidence, such as wreckage, shows up we can never be positive. This conclusion by the officials is more of an educated guess than proof. None of that, however, even addresses the issue of cause – that mystery is going to be around until they find an anomaly in the transmitted performance data or recover the black boxes. It could take a long time to get the answers or they may remain a mystery forever.”
Nants Foley: “I believe this answers the question ‘Where?’ but leaves unanswered the remaining questions: Who?; How?; Why?”
Richard Place: “The new 11th commandment say’s we are not to doubt a Muslim leader.”
