Former Hollister business owner
Janet Praria died Friday, Dec. 27, 2002 at Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital after a sudden illness. She was 69.
Mrs. Praria was born in Philadelphia, Pa. and, with the exception of two years in Hawaii, had lived in California for 51 years, half in Southern California and half in the Monterey area. She was a retired accountant and real estate broker and had owned her own business in Monterey, Cypress Business Services, for more than 25 years. She was an Enrolled Agent with the Internal Revenue Service and at one time owned and operated Hollister Bookkeeping Service.
She was a member of Cypress Community Church in Monterey and volunteered with many organizations. For more than 20 years she was finance chairperson of the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am golf tournament.
She is survived by her children and their spouses, Bette and Mike Grace of Hollister and Guy Benny Lowell and Sherlyn Sharp of Carlsbad; her brothers and sisters, Guy Praria of Massachusetts, Betty Martinez and Lois Southerly, both of Arizona, and Ruth Holmes of Pennsylvania; three grandchildren, a great-grandson and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her sons, Phillip, Kenneth and Gregory Sharp, her brothers, John and Paul Praria, and her grandson, Christopher Jon Nold.
Memorial services will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at Cypress Community Church, 681 Monterey-Salinas Highway between Salinas and Monterey. Arrangements and cremation are under the direction of Grunnagle-Ament-Nelson Funeral Home and Crematory.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the California Grand Jurors Association in care of the funeral home.
