Dear Editor:

“Hello from our magnificent planet earth,” astronaut Laurel Clark e-mailed to her friends and relatives. From the vast void of space echoed a vital connection to our sustaining source, the only home, the only planet we have.

In memory of the “boundless dreams” of the seven astronauts, let’s preserve this special planet. Let’s reduce arms, weapons proliferation, and warmongering. Let’s share precious resources and reduce consumption.

We who are alone in space in our earth spaceship let us recognize our own fragility and save our planet from the same fats as the spacecraft, a blow-up!
