I agree completely that the Pledge of Allegiance should be
recited in English only.
Dear Editor:
I agree completely that the Pledge of Allegiance should be recited in English only.
The state of California, along with the county of San Benito and city of Hollister, along with many more counties and cities in California, are catering to one specific ethnic group. Why?
Why wasn’t equal time and courtesy extended to the Germans, Japanese, Chinese, Italians or Portuguese, etc.?
These people are all proud people who came to America to advance themselves. They learned English rapidly and on their own because they had the burning desire to want to learn and assimilate to become proud American citizens.
As Americans, we should proudly pledge allegiance to our American flag in English, not German, Japanese, Chinese, Portuguese, Italian or Spanish.
There is a price for everything and the price to live in America is to learn our national language, culture, laws and abide by all three.
Noreen Martin,
Hollister
