Santa Clara County Supervisors are slated to make a key policy decision Tuesday on the future uses of the Bear Ranch.

Supervisors will choose from three design options for the most developable portion of the county’s 3,000-plus-acre addition to Coyote Lake County Park, the 300-acre “western flat” northeast of San Martin Avenue.

Last month District 1 County Supervisor Don Gage’s Housing, Land Use, Environment and Transportation committee formally endorsed a combination 200-person events facility and 18-hole golf course at the site, noting it should serve a wide range of recreational needs and earn valuable revenue for the county over the life of the project.

Other options still on the table include the 18-hole course by itself and also a combination of a 500-person events center, an RV campground and open space.
