The Baler lacrosse team, seen here in action earlier this season against Leland, dropped a 18-9 decision to RLS Thursday after winning back-to-back contests in just their second year as a program.

The San Benito High boys tennis team earned its first win in Monterey Bay League Gabilan Division play on Thursday, 4-3 over Alisal. The Haybalers (4-3 overall, 1-2 league) received victories at No. 2 and 4 singles, to go along with wins at No. 2 and 3 doubles.
Sean McConnell and Israel Alvarez picked up straight-set wins at the singles positions, while the teams of Alex Ramirez-Kyle Mellor and Kevin Hernandez-Adrian Garcia also won in straight-sets. San Benito ace Chris Godbout lost a close decision to Alisal’s Jacob Garcia at the No. 1 position, 15-13 in a third-set super tiebreaker.
Boys Golf
San Benito finished fourth in a MBL Gabilan Division contest Thursday at San Juan Oaks. Palma had the low team score with 205, followed by Monte Vista Christian’s 223. The Balers had a 233, with Brad Sparrer shooting a 39. Grant Bernosky (42), Ricardo Garcia (44), Tyler Grimes (50) and Adam Gonzales (56) rounded out the team’s individual scores. Palma’s Dominick Hoover was the medalist with a 38.
Lacrosse
San Benito dropped a 18-9 MBL match to Robert Louis Stevenson on Thursday. Tyler Benedetti scored five goals and Jason White two in the loss for the Balers, who were coming off back-to-back wins in just their second year as a program.
