Donald R. Appling, 79 of Lodi, passed away Saturday, May 4, 2013. He was born March 2, 1934, in Altus, OK.
He was the former owner of Windows Walls & Floor, Inc. in Hollister, CA. Don served as an officer, director, and board member of several organizations. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Hollister Elks Lodge, Ridgemark Golf & Country Club, California Waterfowl, Duck’s Unlimited, California Sporting Clay National Association of Sporting Clays, California Appaloosa Association, San Benito County Chamber of Commerce, and, seasonal resident of Lake Pardee Recreational Fish Camp.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon and Alta Mae Appling, brother, Jim Dale Appling, brother-in-law, Mike Griffin, former wife Frances Appling Flannery, numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. Donald is survived by wife, Carole N. Appling of Lodi, sister, Sharon Griffin of Salinas, sister-in-law, Frankie Appling of Salinas, daughters Connie M. (Steve) Mitchell of Lodi, Christy L. Page of Lodi, Celeste L. (Frank) O’Neal of Galt, son Rodney V. Appling of Buckholt, TX., step-daughter, Suzy D. (David) Brown of Felton, stepson, Douglas N. (Katie) Hegglin of Granite Falls, WA., numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
