Hollister police responded to two separate stabbings Saturday night and arrested one suspect in the cases, according to statements from the Hollister Police Department.
The first stabbing was reported at about 8:30 p.m. Police responded to the 200 block of Miller Road for a report of a fight involving a knife. Shortly after, police responded to the stabbing victim a block away on Lessen Court.
Officers arrested one suspect, Jose Avila Jr., 38, who matched the description from a witness. Police booked him into the San Benito County Jail on suspicion of attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon and battery with great bodily injury, according to the HPD.
The second stabbing was reported around 11 p.m. outside of Agua Azul Bar at 840 East St. Police showed up and found a 36-year-old male with a single stab wound to the right side of the abdomen. He reported to police he had been walking in the parking lot and was met by two males and a female. He alleged one male put a knife to his neck and the other put a knife to his stomach area. As they demanded money, the victim “reflexively” pulled the knife away from his throat, with the second male suspect responding by stabbing him in the abdomen. The victim reported that they fled in a nearby silver sport utility vehicle south on East Street.
Victims in both stabbing cases were airlifted to Bay Area trauma centers and their conditions are unclear.
