WET MESS Competitors at last weekend’s five kilometer obstacle race at Casa de Fruta in Hollister tested their mettle and their endurance while getting very muddy.

Hugging friends and family after they crossed the finish line, the competitors at last weekend’s Gladiator Rock ‘N’ Run at Casa de Fruta in Hollister did not let a little mud get in the way of having a good time.

“It’s fun and a great team thing to do,” said Cindy Kelly, part of the 33-strong 2L2Q (Too Legit Too Quit) team from San Jose. “We work out together.”

Kelly joined hundreds of pumped-up participants in the sixth annual 5 kilometer obstacle course race.

Wearing work-out gear and big smiles, competitors had to overcome a variety of challenges, all while getting wet and dirty, thanks to a water spray truck circling the course. Participants climbed an eight-foot wall, crawled through a mud trough and carried logs and each other all in the pursuit of having a muddy good time.
