The U.S. Geological Survey reported a 3.4 magnitude earthquake struck early Tuesday 27 kilometers (or 16.8 miles) northeast of Pinnacles National Park. 

The earthquake hit at 5:36 a.m. at a depth of .6 kilometers (or nearly .4 miles) on the eastern edge of San Benito County, roughly 25 miles northwest of Hollister.
