A project to upgrade existing pavement at multiple locations along Highway 25 in Hollister near San Felipe Road began Aug.16 and will last through late September, according to Caltrans officials.

Travelers on northbound and southbound Hwy. 25 will encounter overnight and daytime work. The intermittent lane closures are in place starting Aug. 16 and travelers can expect delays between 15-30 minutes, Caltrans said in a press release.

Nighttime activities next week will take place beginning the night of Aug. 16, from 7pm to 6am. In addition, travelers will encounter daytime work beginning Monday morning, Aug. 17 from 9am to 3pm.

These preservation operations aim to extend the service life of the existing pavement by providing skid resistance, restricting moisture and restoring a uniform surface with rumble strips and pavement delineation, says the press release.

Electronic message signs will be activated to inform the public about the roadwork.

The contractor for the $1.3 million project is Doolittle Construction, LLC of Sacramento, CA.
