Editor,

I am appalled at last week’s front page article about a complaining about an Avon lady’s business in her home. His complaints are utterly ridiculous – that there are way too many people coming and going in their cul-de-sac and that the discussions in her own darn driveway are disturbing him.

He should be ashamed of himself for wasting the City Council’s time with a frivolous complaint that has no merit. This woman, Mrs. Saucedo, I’m sure is a very hard working woman, as are any other individuals who run a home-based business in Hollister. If the city revokes her permit, then they need to look into every Pampered Chef, Tupperware lady, handyman, Southern Living, Cookie Lee Jewelry, plumber, carpenter and many more who conduct home-based businesses and yank their permits out from under them and shut them down too.

What, you can’t talk ‘shop’ in front of your own home? Is that what this wonderful city that I moved to 10 years ago has come to? When in history thus far has the city received such a trumped up complaint about another person’s hardworking efforts to support her family? Oh brother!

I say one pesky neighbor who shouldn’t be spying on Mrs. Saucedo’s family and friends in the first place, needs to mind his manners and his own ‘business.’

The city should concentrate more of their efforts on shutting down all these drug dealers who have people coming and going out of their houses at all hours of the day and night, rather than a delightful woman trying to make a living selling a service – Avon, which has been around for decades!
