This local run, put on by the American Association of University Women of Morgan Hill, has everything: a USATF certified 10K course; both the 5K and 10K courses are paved, flat, and fast; chip timing; free Jamba Juice at the finish; professional photography available. In addition, several of the sponsors have booths to share information, products, or services: It’s a “mini-expo” of local providers. As sponsors, they are helping to make the AAUW Wildflower race one of the very best that I have participated in. Please take a little time, while enjoying your Jamba Juice, to visit the sponsors to see what they have to offer and to thank them for helping to support the race and AAUW.
The Wildflower Run is AAUW Morgan Hill’s major fundraiser for the year. They recruit from their membership over 100 volunteers to help ensure that the race, and all its components run smoothly. The proceeds from the race help fund scholarships for girls and women.
For more information, including course maps, a racing guide, and past results, go to http://www.wildflowerrun.org/index.html. This link will also connect you to a downloadable registration form, or direct links to register online at active.com or racemine.org. By choosing racemine.org, however, you will be supporting local owners Greg and Debbie Richards of Morgan Hill, who provide the race timing for the event.
Before or after the race, make sure that you stop by the South Valley Running Club booth and say hello. We put on our own trail race at Mt Madonna Park in August, and we are always willing to talk about the club and all things running.
Gotta Run,
Craig
