Advertising Director Dana Arvig

MainStreet Media Group, the publisher of the Hollister Free Lance and its sister papers, welcomes a new advertisement director with a fresh perspective on building relationships with local businesses.

Dana Arvig, 45, brings 14 years of newspaper experience to the company and is committed to client-centered services, accuracy and creative ideas.

“My job is all about helping businesses figure out how to market themselves – figuring out who they want to reach and what products we have that can help them,” Arvig said.

Arvig, a Prunedale resident  whose home base is at the Gilroy Dispatch office, has been welcomed into the  community since her start in March.

“Everyone has been so friendly,” Arvig said. “I’m happy to be working in this community.”

She worked at the Gannett-owned Salinas Californian newspaper for 14 years, where she started as a classified page sales representative, and worked her way up through the company, where she eventually led the department of sales and marketing for six years.

“I just loved the newspaper industry,” Arvig said.

At the Gilroy Dispatch, Morgan Hill Times, Hollister Freelance and the Weekend Pinnacle, Arvig is focused on training her staff to be more focused on the needs of their customers.

“It’s about building consistent relationships with businesses that are centered around their needs,” she said.

Steve Staloch, vice president of MainStreet Media Group, said that Arvig’s diverse background in print and digital is a great fit for the company.

“Her ‘can-do’ attitude and enthusiasm are contagious, and I look forward to working with her in building our revenue base by supporting the marketing needs of our retail community,” Staloch said.

When Arvig isn’t working, she can be found scrapbooking, working on that screenplay she’s been chiseling at for years, or spending time with her two children and 3-year-old grandson.
