Assemblyman Luis Alejo lauded the governor’s budget plan in a statement released Friday, particularly $57.1 million toward implementation of the legislator’s bill allowing driver’s licenses for undocumented immigrants.
Gov. Jerry Brown on Friday proposed a $113.3 billion budget plan. The following is the statement from Alejo, D-Salinas.
“California’s budget outlook has improved significantly since Governor Brown has returned to office and I’m glad to say that his budget proposal for the 2015-16 Fiscal Year is one that is pragmatic and reasonable. The budget includes several top priorities that include increasing funding for schools and community colleges, keeping our UC system affordable for California students, increasing workforce development for Californians, and restoring the In-Home Supportive Services program. Moreover, the budget proposes $57.1 million for the Department of Motor Vehicles to continue AB 60 implementation. This budget proposal provides the legislature with a realistic starting point and I am confident that my colleagues and I will deliver another on-time and balanced budget.”
