Partnership with Hunt Brothers Pizza will allow former Hollister
resident to race No. 44 Dodge through the next six races
HOLLISTER
Former Hollister resident A.J. Allmendinger and Hunt Brothers Pizza have teamed up in a partnership that will allow the NASCAR driver to continue racing his No. 44 Dodge through the Sept. 12 Sprint Cup race at the Richmond International Raceway in Virginia, Richard Petty Motorsports announced today.
The announcement extends Allmendinger’s season for six races plus the All-Star race, according to Allmendinger’s Web site (www.ajallmendinger.com).
“This is awesome news,” said Allmendinger on his Web site. “I want to thank Hunt Brothers Pizza for coming on board and supporting us. I know our fans and NASCAR fans in general certainly appreciate all they are doing for the sport. We plan to give Hunt Brothers Pizza a lot to talk about in the coming weeks.”
Allmendinger is currently 20th in the point standings after strong finishes in Martinsville (ninth) and at the Bud Shootout (fifth), not to mention his impressive third-place finish at the Daytona 500 to kick-start the 2009 season.
“I think we have shown that we have the ability to run up front in this series,” Allmendinger said on his Web site. “I think you are going to see our results get progressively better the longer this team stays together.”
With 6,000 locations
Allmendinger, who was born in Los Gatos and graduated from Leigh High in San Jose before moving to Hollister, will race the Hunt Brothers Pizza paint scheme April 26 at Talladega. Hunt Brothers Pizza, with 6,000 locations across the country, is based out of Nashville, Tenn.
