The Sixth Annual P.J. Galvan Alumni Classic was held last Saturday at Veterans Memorial Park in Hollister where baseball players young and old came out in support of Galvan, a former Haybaler who was killed in a car accident in 2003.

The Alumni Classic, a fundraising event for the San Benito High School baseball program, featured a home run derby and baseball game that pitted SBHS alumni against the current varsity team.

With starting pitcher Daniel Barone (SBHS Class of 2001) on the mound, the alumni won the game with relative ease, 6-1. Barone, who previously pitched for the Florida Marlins during the 2007 season, threw two scoreless innings for the alumni team and set the tone early on for the comfortable five-run victory.

Other alumni players in attendance included Nick Ramos (Class of 2003), Breyon Canez (2007), Seth Hudson (2005), Anthony Synegal (2004), Nick Backich (2001), Ivan Mcgee (2001), Leroy Dozal (1988), Geno Fata (2005), Kolten Klauer (2007), Brian Rossi (2005), Justin Andrade (2007), Justin Patton (2004), Nick Gonzales (2004), Miles Sanchez (2008), Dave Ortiz (1972), Wade Jacobson (2008), Ray Rojas (1995), David Padilla (1982) and Kyle Thomas (2000).
