The Anzar girls volleyball team won the Mt. Madonna Invitational of small schools last Saturday.

The Hawks (19-11, 7-5) won all four matches, losing just one game in the tournament.

Their only loss of the day was against St. Francis of Watsonville, who they eventually beat.

In the championship game, Anzar defeated Woodside Priory.

The teams traded points in the first game before Anzar was able to shut down their offense to win 25-13 in the final game.

Amy Knight had 70 assists in the tournament. Treva Crocker had 40 kills, and Emily Deleissegues had 24 digs. Kelsey Stone struggled early, but came up big in the end with five timely kills and three blocks.

The Hawks split their two league games this week. On Tuesday, Anzar defeated Greenfield in Greenfield 25-23, 25-15, 25-19.

But on Thursday at home, Anzar lost to King City 21-25, 25-27, 19-25.

Crocker had 16 kills against King City, Deleissegues had 15 digs and three kills, Erica Rodriguez had three blocks and Knight 19 assists.

The Hawks have four more games left in their league schedule. They are at Soledad on Oct. 27.
